Abuesi Foundation Sponsors Health Screening in Abuesi

The Abuesi Foundation as part of its health mission has organised a free health screening for the people of Abuesi in the Shama District, Western Region, Ghana.

The screening was held on Ghana’s Independence Day, 6 March 2023. Over 200 people, including children took part in the screening. The Ghana health service professionals from the Essikado hospital screened for various diseases such as the hepatitis B, malaria, hypertension, diabetes, and breast lump. The professionals also offered general health tips to the people.

Twenty people who were found to have severe health conditions were referred to the nearby health facilities for treatment. The health committee of the foundation will follow up to ensure those referred have received appropriate treatment.

The team lead Mrs Yvonne Mborah was excited about the exercise and thanked the foundation for sponsoring the programme. She however expressed concern that many youths in the community did not take opportunity of the programme. Yvonne said some of the people with severe health conditions knew about their conditions but have not accessed healthcare due to financial predicament.

She expressed the hope that in the future the foundation would be better resourced to help more people.
